The Walatowa Charter Cougars lost against the New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Walatowa Charter's rough 65-42 defeat to New Mexico School for the Deaf might stick with them for a while. Walatowa Charter was down 51-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Mexico School for the Deaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Lopez - Gonzalez, who scored 25 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Holmes, who scored eight points along with seven steals.
Walatowa Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for New Mexico School for the Deaf, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Walatowa Charter will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Chesterton Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for New Mexico School for the Deaf, they will head out on the road to challenge Jemez Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
