Citrus Valley is 0-5 against Poly since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Citrus Valley Blackhawks will be taking part in a tournament against the Poly Bears at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Citrus Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Hillcrest on Monday. Citrus Valley came out on top against Hillcrest by a score of 9-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.
Cali Leverette tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Marquez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hearrell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Poly made easy work of Indio on Monday and carried off a 15-2 win.
Cassandra Ayala made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ayala was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Poly let Honesty Romero and Katelyn Cortez loose on the outfield. Romero went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Cortez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maddy Waddell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Poly's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Citrus Valley, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
Citrus Valley came up short against Poly in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, falling 6-3. Can Citrus Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
