Aquinas Institute and Mendon/Sutherland played the most hotly contested game in Section 5 Freelance this week, with Aquinas Institute eventually emerging with a 15-14 victory. Billy Lombardi ran for 95 yards in the win.
The Little Irish made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 711 from 913. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 15-14 victory over the Panthers last week.
Aquinas Institute's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Little Irish feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jake Zembiec has thrown for 998 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Alex Bianchi has 28 catches for 346 yards. Lombardi leads the league in rushing with 961 yards.
Lombardi of the Aquinas Institute is only 39 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
