The Maplewood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 14th straight defeat. They were beaten by Hume-Fogg 67-33. While losing is never fun, Maplewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Hume-Fogg is ranked 125th).
Hume-Fogg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Nwoye out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Nwoye has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Rhodes, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Maplewood dropped their record down to 3-19 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hume-Fogg, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.
Maplewood will be playing at home against Valor College Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hume-Fogg, they will head out on the road to take on Lawson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
