Winning is just a little bit easier when you make six more threes than your opponent, a fact the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles proved on Wednesday. They walked away with a 56-46 victory over Aquinas. Given John F. Kennedy Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Aquinas is ranked 584th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
John F. Kennedy Catholic found their leader in underclassman Didi Ryan, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals. Ryan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Darney, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Aquinas saw an underclassman step up: K'Lynn Carter dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Aquinas' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Everett, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for John F. Kennedy Catholic and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Aquinas, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John F. Kennedy Catholic will take on Bristol at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Aquinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chaney at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
