Baseball Recap: Christian Academy of Knoxville Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Christian Academy of Knoxville came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Howland Tigers 14-2. Considering the Warriors have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jon Yeager was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Bennett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chip Shelton, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Christian Academy of Knoxville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .478 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Christian Academy of Knoxville pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Howland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Christian Academy of Knoxville will face off against Grace Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Howland, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-0 loss against Bearden on the 29th.
