Fairport has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Penfield Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairport knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Penfield likes a good challenge.
Fairport scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rush-Henrietta 76-73. Given Fairport's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Rush-Henrietta is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Penfield is still undefeated this season after their match against Hilton last Friday, but Hilton came as close as anyone has to beating them. Penfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Hilton and snuck past 82-80. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fairport pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Penfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Fairport strolled past Penfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 66-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
