Silverdale Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Silverdale Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Boyd-Buchanan likes a good challenge.
Even though Silverdale Academy has not done well against Notre Dame recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Silverdale Academy pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over Notre Dame. Given Silverdale Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Notre Dame is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silverdale Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brett Wright led the charge by scoring 14 points. Houston Holland was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Boyd-Buchanan put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Grace Baptist Academy 74-32 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Boyd-Buchanan has posted yet this season.
Silverdale Academy's win bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Boyd-Buchanan, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5.
Silverdale Academy came up short against Boyd-Buchanan in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 59-48. Can Silverdale Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
