The Canyon del Oro Dorados's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Sabino on the road by a decisive 57-39 margin. Canyon del Oro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sabino apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Canyon del Oro still got an impressive performance from Halie Fuller, who dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 18 rebounds, and ten blocks. Fuller has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 17 times she's played. Madisen Fleury was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Sabino's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayda Haley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Haley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marie Gomez-Munoz, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Canyon del Oro has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Sabino, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon del Oro won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Pueblo is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Sabino, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Empire at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Empire comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
