The Eagle Valley Devils lost against the Montrose Red Hawks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Eagle Valley received a tough blow as they fell 50-35 to Montrose. Eagle Valley has not had much luck with Montrose recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Several Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brian Fontana, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Elias Pena, who scored four points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Kaleb Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds for Montrose. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ross, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Eagle Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Montrose, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Valley will take on Battle Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Battle Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Eagle Valley is ranked 105th). As for Montrose, they will head out on the road to take on Fruita Monument at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fruita Monument will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
