The Petaluma Trojans will challenge the Casa Grande Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Petaluma 3.2, Casa Grande 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Petaluma's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Napa 12-0. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.
Petaluma got a great performance from Taylor Cook as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Cook has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Scarlett Fannin was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Bella Hudson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Petaluma hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Casa Grande and American Canyon, and Casa Grande kept the tradition alive. Casa Grande came out on top against American Canyon by a score of 5-0 on Friday. The Gauchos haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lila Partridge was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Partridge was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Lauren Ketchu was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Petaluma is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Casa Grande's win bumped their record up to 5-3-1.
Casa Grande's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Petaluma has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Casa Grande, though, as they've only averaged .342. Will they be able to contain Petaluma's hitters?
Petaluma couldn't quite get it done against Casa Grande when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can Petaluma avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
