The Walton Braves were the 42-32 winner over the Paxton Bobcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Walton was the victim of a tough 67-46 loss at the hands of Paxton on Tuesday. Walton has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Walton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Neenan, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Santego Austin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Paxton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sawyer Adams, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Adams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Collin Stewart, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Walton's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Paxton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Walton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Bay will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Walton is ranked 135th). As for Paxton, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethlehem at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bethlehem will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
