The Mercer County Titans will head out on the road to challenge the South Laurel Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mercer County comes in on five and South Laurel on four.
Mercer County took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Boyle County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Rebels 5-4. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one run.

Mia Floro was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Davis was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, South Laurel got the win against Williamsburg on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Skye Lawson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinlee Ertel, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and one run.
South Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
South Laurel pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mercer County, their record is now 11-5.
Both Mercer County and South Laurel just can't seem to miss. The Titans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like South Laurel struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mercer County beat South Laurel 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
