Walther Christian Academy is 0-3 against Westmont since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Broncos will welcome the Sentinels at 4:30 p.m. Walther Christian Academy has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Walther Christian Academy's offense. They lost 17-0 to Holy Trinity on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Broncos' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Westmont came tearing into Wednesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over the Pumas. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won 15 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Rocco Damato and Nathaniel Ollier were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Damato pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ollier tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Damato got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one run, while Ollier went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Briggs Templeton was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Chinea, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Westmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive games.
Westmont's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Walther Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Walther Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Westmont in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road?
