Lawrence County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Lawrence County Wildcats and the Archbishop McNicholas Rockets will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Lawrence County is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Archbishop McNicholas in their respective states (Lawrence County is ranked 29th in Tennessee, while Archbishop McNicholas is ranked 151st in Ohio).
Even though Lawrence County has not done well against Columbia Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lawrence County secured a 60-54 W over Columbia Central.
Meanwhile, Archbishop McNicholas pushed their score all the way to 70 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (61), Archbishop McNicholas still had to take the loss.
Despite their loss, Archbishop McNicholas saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrew Ehlers, who scored 17 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Ehlers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grant Waters, who scored 19 points.
Lawrence County pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Archbishop McNicholas, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
