East Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The San Marcos Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on East Central, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, East Central was able to grind out a solid win over Clemens, taking the game 28-18. The victory was just what East Central needed coming off of a 52-28 loss in their prior matchup.
East Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Isaiah Mackey, who threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and Austin Vivier, who gained 111 total yards and two touchdowns. Vivier was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards. Kaleb Ramos made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to San Marcos, who are still winless after their ninth game. They had to suffer through a rough 45-14 loss at the hands of New Braunfels. While losing is never fun, San Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 762nd, while New Braunfels is ranked 194th).
East Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for San Marcos, their loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
East Central came up short against San Marcos when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 20-16. Can East Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
