Baseball Recap: Holden Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Holden's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Assumption Mustangs by a score of 13-9.

Colton Lewis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Holden is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Lewis was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Holden let Caden Rivett and Isaiah Fields run wild. Rivett scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4, while Fields scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, Fields posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Aidan Hutchinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Holden pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 3.6 in the others. As for Assumption, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coming up, Holden will head out on the road to face off against Albany at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Albany will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Holden surely won't give up without a fight. As for Assumption, they will welcome Northlake Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northlake Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Assumption's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
