Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Ellet's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Ellet won the last time they faced Buchtel and things went their way on Thursday too. The Ellet Orangemen were the clear victor by a 70-44 margin over the Buchtel Griffins. The Orangemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 22 points or more this season.

Caitlyn Holmes was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 10 en route to 17 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Keith, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and four steals.

Ellet smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Buchtel still got an impressive performance from Myah Clark, who posted 17 points and five boards. Clark continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylah Jones, who earned 11 points.

Ellet has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Buchtel, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Ellet will be playing in front of their home fans against North at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ellet is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Buchtel, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-15 defeat against Norwayne on the 25th.
