The Sunlake Seahawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weeki Wachee Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunlake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Sunlake pushed their score all the way to 72 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mitchell 77-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (71), Sunlake still had to take the loss.
Sunlake's defeat came about despite a quality game from Christopher Murray, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Murray continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nelson Marshall was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 78-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cypress Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sunlake's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10. As for Weeki Wachee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Sunlake beat the Hornets 105-94 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Sunlake repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
