The Flanagan-Cornell Falcons had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 55-30 margin over Herscher. Given Flanagan-Cornell's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Tigers are ranked 627th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kesler Collins was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for three straight games. Seth Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Flanagan-Cornell's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Herscher, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flanagan-Cornell and the Falcons will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 236 points over their last four games. As for Herscher, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
