The Rabun County Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Elbert County with a sharp 83-62 win. Winning may never get old, but Rabun County sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Leading Rabun County to victory were Huey Blalock and Cooper Welch. Blalock dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 assists, while Welch scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Welch is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Hayes Free, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Elbert County still got an impressive performance from Grady Jones, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Brown, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Rabun County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Elbert County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18.
Rabun County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tallulah Falls at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Rabun County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Tallulah Falls likes a good challenge. Elbert County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
