Basketball Recap: Kolton Kurek and Charles Rizzutto Secure Win for Cypress Christian

Cypress Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bay Area Christian on Tuesday. The Cypress Christian Warriors put the hurt on the Bay Area Christian Broncos with a sharp 64-39 win. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Broncos, too.

Cypress Christian was led to victory by Charles Rizzutto and Kolton Kurek. Rizzutto went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and three steals, while Kurek went 7 of 9 en route to 18 points. Those 27 points gave Rizzutto a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Dawson, who posted no points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Cypress Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-16. As for Bay Area Christian, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Cypress Christian has already played their next game (against Legacy Prep Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bay Area Christian will head out on the road to challenge Fort Bend Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Bay Area Christian likes a good challenge.
