Campo Verde has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mesquite recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Coyotes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. Campo Verde will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Campo Verde is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mountain Pointe a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. The Coyotes have beaten the Pride the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pride has come to flipping the script.
Addyson Armstrong looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Anna Zehring was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Amaya Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Campo Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mesquite's offense. They lost 9-0 to Marcos de Niza on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Padres recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Mesquite saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Romans, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Romans' first of the season.
Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Campo Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Campo Verde hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Mesquite struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Campo Verde got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Mesquite by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Coyotes repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
