Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Terry Sanford's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Terry Sanford couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the J.H. Rose Rampants on Tuesday, falling 8-2. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Benny Whiteaker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Whiteaker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Walker, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

Terry Sanford's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for J.H. Rose, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season.

While Terry Sanford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
