The Brookwood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Holt 67-61. Brookwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ironmen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Brookwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayton Dixon, who scored 21 points. Dixon is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Joseph Mayo was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Brookwood has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season. As for Holt, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-19.
Brookwood and the Wildcats will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oakman presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in Alabama (the Wildcats are ranked 127th, while the Panthers are ranked 348th). As for Holt, they will head out on the road to square off against the Choctaws at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
