The Powell County Pirates will take on the Bath County Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Powell County has three straight victories, Bath County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Powell County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mason County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Pirates' pitcher stepped up to hand the Royals an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. Eight seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Lacy Dicken

05/09/25 @ Montgomery County | 1 |
04/30/25 vs Breathitt County | 1 |
The result came thanks to Lacy Dicken's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tucker Ramsey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beau Begley, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Bath County lost 8-1 to East Carter on Wednesday.
Bath County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Dillon, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Powell County pushed their record up to 12-16 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Bath County, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-16-1.
Powell County came out on top in a nail-biter against Bath County in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
