The Curlew Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 86-48 loss at the hands of Cusick. While losing is never fun, Curlew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Cusick is ranked 105th).
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Olson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harleigh Ciais Anderson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Curlew bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Cusick, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Curlew won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Columbia at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Cusick, they will head out on the road to challenge Rosalia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
