Basketball Game Preview: Graceville Tigers vs. Vernon Yellowjackets

Graceville has gone 10-0 against Vernon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Graceville Tigers will challenge the Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Graceville will be strutting in after a victory while Vernon will be coming in after a defeat.

Graceville will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Sneads, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Graceville claimed a resounding 51-9 win over Sneads. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Graceville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zaria Nedd out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Nedd is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last nine games she's played. Aarshunni Curry was another key player, going 8 of 18 on her way to 17 points along with seven boards and five steals.

Graceville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 26-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cottondale.

Graceville pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points per game. As for Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything went Graceville's way against Vernon in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, as Graceville made off with a 43-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Graceville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
