While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, the Chapin Eagles were not quite the Lexington Wildcats's equal in the second half on Friday. Chapin received a tough blow as they fell 42-25 to Lexington. Chapin found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Chapin's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sami Stephenson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Stephenson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Haggard, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two blocks.
Lexington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Cuttino, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. Cuttino hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Izzy Saville was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Chapin's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Lexington, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Chapin will head out on the road to square off against Dutch Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lexington, they will be playing at home against River Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
