Malden is a perfect 10-0 against South Pemiscot since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Green Wave will be taking part in a tournament against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Malden's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Campbell with a sharp 15-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Carsyn Cohen, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Loya, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Malden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. They are 16-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Pemiscot, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Naylor 15-0 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.
Phoenix Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Simmons was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Ayleighonna Farmer was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Gonzalez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Malden has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for South Pemiscot, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Malden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .533. However, it's not like South Pemiscot struggles in that department as they've averaged .529. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Malden took their victory against South Pemiscot in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 18-2 score. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
