The Brockway Rovers and the Port Allegany Gators squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Brockway Rovers had to settle for second. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Brockway falling 29-10. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Port Allegany: they've now lost five in a row.
Aiden Patton threw for 115 yards on seven of 19 attempts. Caleb Daugherty was his top target, picking up 94 receiving yards. On the ground, Jendy Cuello rushed for 46 yards.
Port Allegany found their leader in underclassman Aiden Bliss, who rushed for 288 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Brockway to a paltry 244 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Port Allegany's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out seven times before it was all said and done. In that department, Miska Young was the leader with four sacks.
Brockway's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Port Allegany, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Brockway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Allegany will square off against Redbank Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Redbank Valley is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
