The Randleman Tigers had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 54-34 margin over Eastern Randolph. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randleman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audra Petty led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds. Petty has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Beane, who scored four points along with five assists and five steals.
Eastern Randolph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ziera Watson, who scored 18 points along with three steals. That was a full 52.9% of Eastern Randolph's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kenly Whitaker was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Randleman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Eastern Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Randleman's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Southwestern Randolph will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. As for Eastern Randolph, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
