The Litchfield Purple Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 26 points or more this season. They breezed by Mt. Olive on the road to the tune of 83-12. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Litchfield has managed all season.
Litchfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Schaake out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Odle, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Litchfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Mt. Olive, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Litchfield will look to defend their home court on Friday against Vandalia at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Vandalia is ranked 315th, while Litchfield is ranked 340th). As for Mt. Olive, they will head out on the road to face off against Bunker Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bunker Hill is on a five-game streak of home losses, Mt. Olive a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
