The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals will take on the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant has given up an average of 19.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Mt. Pleasant turned things around against Yerba Buena on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Aztec Warriors with a sharp 29-22 win. Considering the Cardinals have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Leah Gonzales was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.1 RBI per game. Lily Jimenez was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Mt. Pleasant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .649. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Evergreen Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They lost 11-1 to Silver Creek. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost nine in a row.
Mackenzie Brongiel spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and nine unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Evergreen Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayda Galvan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Mt. Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Evergreen Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Evergreen Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Pleasant has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .661. It's a different story for Evergreen Valley, though, as they've only averaged .266. Will they be able to contain Mt. Pleasant's hitters?
Mt. Pleasant took their win against Evergreen Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-1 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
