The Penns Manor Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Ferndale Yellow Jackets at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Penns Manor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Penns Manor will head out to face Ferndale after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Comets came up short against West Shamokin, falling 18-1. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Penns Manor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Luther, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Ferndale was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Greater Johnstown with a sharp 16-9 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aubrielle Leverknight was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kauthar Quraishy, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Ferndale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 6-5. As for Ferndale, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Penns Manor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Ferndale struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Penns Manor skirted past Ferndale 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
