The Jefferson Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Poynette Pumas at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jefferson 1.6, Poynette 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Jefferson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Whitewater 13-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.

Ashlyn Enke was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aeryn Messmann, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hildie Dempsey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitewater only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, Poynette had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pumas have posted since May 21, 2024.
Poynette pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-4.
Jefferson came out on top in a nail-biter against Poynette in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
