Rock Port has gone a perfect 3-0 against Albany recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Jays will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Rock Port is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 13 games.
Rock Port's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on North Nodaway with a sharp 15-0 win. The Blue Jays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.
Rylan Hunter made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Westyn Amthor looked comfortable as he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Back at the plate, Rock Port let Logan Ellis and Corbyn Jakub run wild. Ellis went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Jakub went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That double marked the first that Ellis has hit this season.
Rock Port always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Nodaway only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Albany, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past Stanberry 15-0 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Shae Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Albany got a massive performance out of Daulton Worrell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Worrell is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Barrett Worrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Rock Port's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Albany, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rock Port has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rock Port took their victory against Albany in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Jays since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
