Memphis and Shamrock are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2016, but not for long. The Memphis Cyclones will head out on the road to face off against the Shamrock Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Memphis fell victim to Wheeler's stalwart defense last Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 31-0 loss at the hands of the Mustangs.
Meanwhile, Shamrock took a serious blow against Clarendon on Friday, falling 58-6.
Terry Menefield put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 162 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Memphis' loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Wellington and 7-2 Ralls (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.2% over those games). As for Shamrock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Memphis was dealt a bruising 55-20 defeat at the hands of Shamrock when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Memphis, Caden Peevey (who rushed for 169 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
