The Gateway Charter Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 60-26 victory over Cypress Lake. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-14.
Gateway Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jazmyne Trubina out in front who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Trubina has scored at least 25% of Gateway Charter's points. Maria Juantorena was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilly Witz, who scored six points.
Gateway Charter is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. As for Cypress Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Charter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Cypress Lake, they will square off against Marco Island Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
