The Medina Mustangs lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Newfane 75-40. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Medina in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Jerrell Nealy and Justin Pitts certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Nealy scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Pitts scored 13 points along with three steals. Nealy hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Doxey, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Newfane was led to victory by Landon Braman and Ben Dickinson. Braman scored 15 points along with five assists, while Dickinson scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Dickinson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Nate Snow was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists.
Medina's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Newfane, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Medina will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Akron will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Newfane will take on the Lakemen at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Panthers are ranked 190th).
