Softball Recap: Jurupa Valley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jurupa Valley extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 10-6 in the process. They put the hurt on the La Sierra Eagles with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Samantha Amancio made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saytha Sanchez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Emma Enciso-Rios was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Jurupa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .464 or higher in four consecutive games.

As for La Sierra, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On La Sierra's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rose Johnson, who got a hit.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Jurupa Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Ramona at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Jaguars 3.8, the Rams 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Sierra will take on rival Patriot at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
