V Section II recap October 22, 2013
Yuma Catholic added to the longest winning streak in V Section II this week by beating Bourgade Catholic, 21-10. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Shamrocks.
Northwest Christian took down Antelope 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Drew Inness threw for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 19 yards in the win.
Cameron Haag threw for 290 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Saul Rascon was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 154 yards on 28 carries as the Golden Eagles beat Tonopah Valley.
The Coyotes' Haag and Cook have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Haag has thrown for 2,002 yards this season, while Cook has 49 catches for 1,088 yards. Rascon from Bourgade Catholic leads the league in rushing with 1,220 yards.
The top two teams in V Section II will face off this week when first place Bourgade Catholic takes on second place Arizona Lutheran Academy. Pat Lavin's team fell to Yuma Catholic last week, while Arizona Lutheran Academy beat the Phoenix.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Scott Indahl's team's Cook goes up against the Golden Eagles' Joshua Sanders.
Next week's game between the Coyotes and Bourgade Catholic will feature a good passing match up as Haag will test his arm against Sanders' defensive ability.
The Crusaders led the league in scoring this week by notching 63 points on the Rams. Inness ran for 19 yards during the win.
