5A North Metro recap September 24, 2013
Boulder's Todd Jones rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A North Metro this season in his game against Brighton last week. Jones scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 192 on the day as his team fell to the Bulldogs.
Boulder fell to Brighton 33-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jones was a bright spot for Bob Simmons' team, as he in the loss.
Legacy's dynamic duo of Matt Lynch and Mike Straface proved to be unstoppable against Fort Collins, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lynch threw for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns and Straface had 77 yards receiving. Jacob Royer helped Legacy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 36 yards.
The Lightning's dynamic duo of Lynch and Straface proved tough for the Lambkins to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Jones was the most successful running back in the league this week.
Lynch put up the best numbers through the air as Legacy beat Fort Collins.
Straface was the best wideout in the league this week as Wayne Voorhees' team defeated Eric Rice's team.
Jones was a passing and rushing force as the Panthers fell to Pat Sandoval's team. Jones' key target this week was River Addison, who caught 3 passes for 78 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Sam Martin. The Fairview star has 18 catches for 319 yards.
The most important game in 5A North Metro this week will be the match up between Fairview and Ralston Valley. The Knights comes into the matchup ranked 10th in the state, while the Mustangs ranks sixth.
There should be lots of points scored when Fairview and Ralston Valley face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Tom McCartney's team comes in having scored 111 this season, while Matt Loyd's team has scored 171. The Knights scored 45 points last week as they beat Lakewood.
Fairview and the Tigers played the closest game in the league this week, with Fairview eventually emerging with a 45-43 victory.
