The Crystal River Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Weeki Wachee by a score of 85-76. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Crystal River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zachary Hamilton led the charge by scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hamilton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ej Jenkins, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Defeat or not, Weeki Wachee got some senior leadership from Isaac Priester and Jean Garcia. Priester scored 28 points along with three steals, while Garcia. scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Priester is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. Matthew Stumpf was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Crystal River's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-13. As for Weeki Wachee, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Crystal River will head out on the road to challenge the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weeki Wachee, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Cypress Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
