Softball Recap: Miami Beach Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hialeah, Miami Beach was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Miami Springs Golden Hawks as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Hi-Tides might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Maricela Mesarina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Miami Beach got a massive performance out of Angelina Murillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. What's more, Murillo posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Thali Alvarez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Miami Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami Springs only posted an OBP of .286.

Miami Beach's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Springs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Miami Beach will be playing at home against Goleman at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Miami Springs, they will venture away from home to face off against American at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
