Volleyball Recap: Madonna Wins Going Away Against Catholic Central

Madonna hadn't done well against Catholic Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Blue Dons were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Crusaders. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Blue Dons this season.

One reason for the win was Madonna's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-12.

Their offense was headlined by Rylee Birkhimer and Madison Owens, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Sophie Brady and her 27 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

The victory (which was Madonna's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3-1. As for Catholic Central, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Madonna will head out on the road to challenge Wood County Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Catholic Central, they will host Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
