For the first time this season, Sabetha will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Perry-Lecompton will be up against a hot Sabetha team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Bluejays blew past Burlington 13-2 on Saturday. Fans of the Bluejays have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Chloe Detweiler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Detweiler was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Ava Edelman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Regan Hasenkamp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Sabetha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perry-Lecompton). Their pitcher stepped up to hand St. Marys a 17-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Kaws in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Macie Corcoran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paxton Damme, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Sabetha's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Perry-Lecompton, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Perry-Lecompton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sabetha has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Perry-Lecompton, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Sabetha's sizable advantage in that area, the Kaws will need to find a way to close that gap.
Sabetha got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Perry-Lecompton by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Kaws turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
