The Rocky Mountain Lobos will head out on the road to face off against the Chaparral Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Rocky Mountain pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 84-59 loss at the hands of Regis Jesuit.
Despite the loss, Rocky Mountain saw an underclassman step up: Daniel Mbadinga-Nzamba scored 10 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Matkin, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Chaparral pushed their score all the way to 69 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Shoemaker by a score of 72-69. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Chaparral came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in Colorado, while Shoemaker is ranked 119th in Texas).
Rocky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Rocky Mountain beat Chaparral 69-62 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Chaparral's Brayden Munroe, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Rocky Mountain to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
