Section 9 AA-II recap October 1, 2013
Warwick was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Kingston. The Wildcats came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 36 last week.
Valley Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 184 from 223 this week, the biggest jump in Section 9 AA-II. The Vikings were able to move up by defeating Monticello 37-6.
Warwick's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brad Garcia threw for 35 yards and Brendan Corneby had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Garcia chipped in 401 yards.
Garcia was a force in the backfield as Gregory Sirico's team defeated the Tigers.
Garcia was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 401 yards as the Wildcats topped Kingston. Joe Smith Jr. also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Warwick takes on Minisink Valley. As it stands, the Wildcats are in first, while the Warriors are in fourth.
Valley Central made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,335 from 7,302. The improvement was the result of a 37-6 victory over the Panthers last week.
