Softball Recap: Plainfield East Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Plainfield East won the last time they faced Bolingbrook and things went their way on Monday too. The Bengals put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jocelyn Cushard made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Plainfield East got a great performance from Maya Patel as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaleigh Cawthon, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ashley Plzak, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Plainfield East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Bolingbrook, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
